OUR MISSION

There is much more to Hong Kong than the city.

With over 70% of Hong Kong comprising mountainous forests, lakes and rugged coastlines. the territory possesses a bounty of natural wonders. Our aim is to share this beautiful back yard with you and show you many of Hong Kong's hidden gems. From remote hilltop vistas down to secluded waterfalls and golden beaches. Wild Hong Kong will take you on an adventure to remember!

Established in 2015. We focus on leading hiking, cycling and kayaking adventures around various parts of rural Hong Kong, exploring individual or multiple environments. Half and full day routes are available. We can also work with you on a customised package, to create an adventure suiting your needs.

THE TEAM

RORY MACKAY
(FOUNDER & LEAD GUIDE)

BIOGRAPHY
Growing up between Hong Kong and Scotland, Rory was never a stranger to adventure. Whether it was scaling munros in the Scottish Highlands or the finding new waterfalls in the New Territories of HK, he was always keen to utilise any opportunity to explore.

As an experienced traveller, Rory enjoys meeting other travellers and showing them a different side to Hong Kong. Having grown up there, he has a unique insight into many facets of 'HK' life.
ADVENTURES
After finishing school, Rory got his first taste of a big adventure sailing an 80ft yacht from Scotland to the Svalbard archipelago near the North Pole. His post school years were then spent working and skiing in New Zealand & travelling around Southeast Asia. All of this, before moving to Australia to pursue degree in architecture.

Whilst studying, Rory completed a solo bicycle trip across Vietnam and China, cycling from Saigon to Hong Kong. He wrote a book based on the experience that led to greater endeavours in the ensuing years.

With university done, Rory proceeded to tackle a bigger challenge; cycling across Africa. He completed the solo ride from Cape Town to Cairo in 6 months, with a few eye-opening experiences along the way to say the least! His recent kayaking expeditions around Hong Kong, trekking in the Himalayas and climbing of some high altitude routes in the Andes other notable experiences among many.

TRISTAN DELARUE
(LEAD GUIDE)

Tristan Delarue
BIOGRAPHY
Tristan has been with us since 2018. Originally from France, he is very much a Hong Kong local these days.

Tristan is (not surprisingly) an adventure lover and has hiked many places all over the territories.

SEAN MOLE
(GUIDE)

Picture
BIOGRAPHY
A native of Oregon in the U.S.A.'s Pacific Northwest, Sean has prioritised spending time outdoors. Whether on snow covered mountainsides, frigid Pacific Ocean waves or in the deep canyon rivers of his former home he has always been keen to explore.

Arriving in Hong Kong at the beginning of the pandemic, Sean was delighted to find that Hong Kong offered such a variety of land and waters to explore away from the concrete and neon streets.

JESSE JAMES
(GUIDE)

Picture
BIOGRAPHY
Having grown up in the wilds of Sai Kung in Hong Kong's New Territories, Jesse is no stranger to adventure in the great outdoors and the culture of HK.
