Collaboration with 'mad dogs' cycle adventures

We're excited at WildHK to be linking up with Mad Dogs and running local bicycle tours in the very near future! Running in conjunction to our 'set hiking tours', we hope to slot in a few exciting cycling tours.

Founded by experienced cyclist Humphrey Wilson in 2009. Disillusioned with his career in accountancy, he picked up a bicycle and cycled all the way from Buckingham Palace in London to Government House in Hong Kong. He experienced unimaginable adventures in ten months across 22 countries. 

When he finished, having settled into a new life of stock broking in HK, he soon realised that his identity had become far more defined by his immense cycling achievement than by being a financier.

He wanted others to experience the same satisfaction of using the human body to travel an extraordinarily long way but knew that for most people, it is unrealistic to take more than a week off. Then came an epiphany. If the cycling is planned and supported, longer distances can be covered each day and over a week, provided a lot of doggedness, grit and determination, an extraordinary feat is accomplished – one which, like Humphrey’s original ride, truly sets a Mad Dog apart from his or her peers.

A Maddog adventure "enables people to obtain tangible, sublimely impressive achievements in long-distance cycling - by cycling every inch between far-flung destinations. For most people, just finishing or “bagging” one of our Mad Dogs is enough, however for others, registering a target time for the Hall of Fame is the key part of the challenge. Our challenges fit into a week or less off work."
